1801 The Naval Chronicle Vol V 15 Plates Cape Of Good Hope Copenhagen Gibraltar
I have here for sale a fascinating and beautifully illustrated book entitled THE NAVAL CHRONICLE. The book is Volume V for Jan to June 1801. Published by J Gold of No 103 Shoe Lane. Plates include the Cape of Good Hope; several Spanish gun-boats attacking the Speedy Sloop of War with Gibraltar in the background; chart of the Sound of Copenhagen; St Helena with an East Indiaman; the Danish castle of Cronenburg; et al. Quarter bound in brown leather on marbled hardboards.
Spine covering has been repaired and the front board is detached. The two pages of the Preface are detached (fixed in place with white tape) but the rest is tightly bound in. Title page and the vignette title page are both missing but otherwise in Good condition. 23 cm by 15 cm.
